A workshop on Sustainable Management of Water and Agriculture towards an Organic Dunagrpur and Organic Clusters of Rajasthan was held at Pant Krishi Bhawan on21st July, 2016. The workshop was attended by officers of the state Agriculture Department along with representatives of various institutes working to make farming more sustainbable across the country.
The workshop was conducted by the CEO of Bharat Rural Livelihoods Foundation (BRLF), Mr. Zulfiquar Haider. Mr. Haider, expressed his concerned over ground water tapping and said that there is need for community work in this direction. He also emphasized the need for farming through water budgeting. Dr. Chandra Shekhar of Centre for Sustainable Agriculture (CSA), Hyderabad gave a presentation to encourage non pesticide management and adoption of organic farming on a large scale. He gave detailed information about the work being carried out by CSA towards water harvesting, grid locking, farm pond, integrated farming, high density Plantation. The Founder Director, Preservation and Proliferation of rural Resources and Nature (PRANA), Mr. Anil verma informed about ‘Shreevidhi’ to increase Productivity in Agriculture. He said that through this method and with the use of better natural resource in agriculture the productivity can be increased may fold. Also he expressed the need to train the farmers and to get acquainted to this method for increasing productivity in farming.
